40 Under 40: Dustyn Bailey is an ad man with political ambitions

Date:

Significant professional accomplishment: I became the president of Maine Ad + Design. With my leadership, we made a comeback from COVID, brought back the Broderson Awards in person, reinvented the Joan Dow Award to acknowledge the amazing women in Maine’s advertising and creative industry, and brought back student scholarships.

Passion project: I am creating a Wikia for my mother’s family tree and writing down all of the unique stories from the lives lived in the past and present.

Audacious goal: To serve and represent the great state of Maine as governor or senator one day, following the examples of Angus King and Joshua Chamberlain.

Favorite quote: “Courage is a habit.” — Anonymous

Influential book: “Fahrenheit 451,” by Ray Bradbury

Favorite movie: “Star Wars: A New Hope”

How do you recharge: Long drives. Throwing a bag in the car and driving two-plus hours in any direction in Maine. Getting back to nature on the rocky coast, deep in the woods or atop a mountain.
