This will be the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools and the series history dates back to the 1985 season. Dayton holds an 11-4 advantage in the series but the Cardinals have won each of the last four meetings between the two schools. The last time the two teams met was the 2020 season and the Cardinals defeated the Flyers 1-0 on the road. Ravin Alexander, Morgan Bentley and Savina Zamborini all earned the start in the win and Emma Hiscock came off the bench as Maisie Whitsett scored the lone goal of the match in the 16th minute.
The Cardinals are coming off a 2-0 defeat on the road against Xavier this past Sunday. Freshmen Viktoira Wik and Fiona Gaißer both started their second-straight games to begin their collegiate careers and graduate transfer Lucy Roberts also earned her second-straight start. Fellow freshmen Molly Cochran and Betsy Huckaby both came off the bench for the second-straight game against the Musketeers. Erynn Floyd tallied four saves on the night, the fourth time in her career she has had four or more saves in a game.
Following the match against the Flyers, the Cardinals will return home to start off a three-game homestand from Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. That home stretch will begin on Sunday, August 27, against Northern Kentucky.
