SAN MARCOS, Texas — The UNT women’s soccer team hits the road again for a Thursday night showdown at Texas State.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT from the Bobcat Complex and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Mean Green (2-0) enter Thursday’s contest having yet to concede a goal and won each of its first two matches by a score of 3-0. Thursday, which will be UNT’s second road match of the young season, will likely be its toughest match so far. The Bobcats will head into the match also with a 2-0 record and have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 8-2.

North Texas owns a 9-0-1 all-time record versus Texas State, however, last year in Denton the Bobcats tied the Mean Green, 2-2. Texas State scored the equalizer with just five minutes remaining and it came just five minutes after current UNT sophomore Summer Brown scored the go-ahead goal and what felt to be the match winner.

The Mean Green are coming off a 3-0 shutout over Northwestern State on Sunday night in their home opener. North Texas began the regular season last week in Las Vegas at UNLV. The road was no worries to the Mean Green as they beat UNLV, 3-0.

Through two matches this year, North Texas has had five different goal scorers, led by Brown who has scored twice so far. Brown and goalkeeper Maddie Ogden were named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll on Monday. Freshman Sarah Peyton Webb was named the American’s Rookie of the Week.

After Thursday’s match at Texas State, UNT returns to Denton to host Texas A&M – Commerce on Sunday night.
