Axis Bank partners with Cleartrip to bring travel benefits to cardholders

Date:

Cleartrip and Axis Bank have joined forces in an effort to offer clients more travel benefits.

Axis Bank, one of the biggest private banks in India, announced the partnership, noting that the pair will offer new travel benefits to Axis Bank cardholders when they book through Cleartrip.

Ayyappan R., CEO of Cleartrip, said that the global online travel booking company based out of Mumbai is “deeply invested in disrupting the [online travel agency] space through a transparent and customer-centric approach.”

Cleartrip’s partnership with Axis Bank, he said, is an extension of the commitment.

When Axis Bank cardholders book with Cleartrip, they will receive benefits including fee-free date changes, cancellation options and flexible bookings. It also provides additional privileges for domestic flight bookings such as discount in bookings, free meals and convenience fee exceptions, among others.

“This unique proposition truly sets us apart in the market and is set to benefit close to 12.5 million customers,” said R.

Sanjeev Moghe, president and head of cards and payments at Axis, shared the sentiment.

“We continue to build on innovation led partnership models to offer customers a value proposition specifically designed to cater to their evolving needs, while delivering greater convenience and more benefits,” Moghe said. “We have observed that the travel segment is a high engagement area for our customers, especially during festivities, and this one-of-a-kind proposition with Cleartrip will add an immense value to our customers’ travel plans.”

While Axis Bank is billing the partnership as “one of a kind,” Cleartrip isn’t the first OTA to link up with a bank or financial institution.

Hopper had a partnership with Brazil’s Nubank and another with Australia’s largest bank, CommBank, which was announced in May – and also earlier this year, Expedia announced a partnership with Mastercard – just to name a few finance-travel link-ups.
