14th Annual ArchitecTours Features Variety of Homes, Housing Projects | Arts & Entertainment

Date:

The American Institute of Architects, Santa Barbara (AIASB) will present its 14th annual ArchitecTours 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7, with an after party, 4-6 p.m.

ArchitecTours is an annual celebration of local architecture. Projects on the tour showcase the depth of knowledge and expertise AIA architects have in urban design, sustainability, accessibility, structural improvements, buildings materials, and historic renovation.

This year’s tour features projects in communities near downtown Santa Barbara, including newly completed residences on the Mesa, as well as mid-century and cottage-style accessory dwelling units.

Tour participants will also have a chance to visit multi-unit senior and veteran housing projects, Drift Hotel, and SB Biergarten. The spaces are indicative of Santa Barbara’s signature indoor-outdoor lifestyle and the diversity of local communities.

The self-guided tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at exceptional properties, making architecture more accessible to the public. Participants will observe first-hand how architects transform ordinary spaces into impactful environments. They will receive a tour brochure and/or app with maps, photos, and information detailing all the projects.

Ticket costs are:

Early bird sale: Aug. 29-Sept. 18 — AIA members and seniors, $65; general public, $75; students, $30 (with proof of enrollment); AIASB associate members, $30.
