Accelya Inks Multiyear Renewal with American

Date:

Accelya has signed a multiyear renewal deal for its New Distribution Capability partnership with American Airlines, the software provider announced Monday.

The extension follows the company’s June announcement that Accelya now enables exchange of unused American tickets purchased through legacy global distribution system connections for those issued through NDC connections.

NDC-enabled bookings so far in 2023 represented more than 10.5 percent of U.S. passenger bookings through Airlines Reporting Corp., up from 7 percent for full-year 2022. NDC-enabled bookings in July 2023 represented more than 12.7 percent of such U.S. passenger bookings.

American Airlines in April began removing some content from EDIFACT and making it available only through NDC-connected or direct channels. United Airlines this year also has increased its NDC content and in July announced it would begin on Sept. 5 to pull Basic Economy fares from the EDIFACT channel.
