The long-running Vine Grove Bluegrass Music Festival is back to feature 15 bands across four days.
The annual festival is Wednesday through Saturday at Optimist Park in Vine Grove.
Jason Basham, the president of the festival’s board, said Wednesday’s activities is in partnership with the Breckinridge County Bluegrass Association and begins at 6 p.m. lasting until 9 p.m.
The day is free, and the association is raising money for its organization.
Thursday is gospel night and performances start at 6 p.m. with a total of three bands.
With Friday, and weekdays typically, the bands start at around 5:30 and 6 p.m. However, because of the large influx of campers, usually 90 to 100, Friday will start earlier than usual at 1:30 p.m. with five bands, Basham said.
Friday’s performances will close with Kentucky musician Cole Chaney. Basham said that with Chaney and some other acts, they want to branch out to bluegrass adjacent genres such as country and Americana, but not straying away from the bluegrass roots.
“We want to try to show the different elements of bluegrass,” Basham said.
Saturday is the last and biggest day of the festival which starts at 10:30 a.m. Seven bands perform throughout the day. The night concludes with headliner Ricky Skaggs.
Basham said they try their best to rotate between new and up and coming bands and fan favorites that have been performing at the festival for several years.
He said with the help of Radcliff & Fort Knox Tourism, 50 local sponsors and the city of Vine Grove, they’ve been able to grow the event incrementally each year.
“We’re able to just keep growing and growing,” he said.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at tinyurl.com/yc4vedxx. Three-day passes are $90. The parks normal activities will be closed once the festival begins each day. It’s a rain or shine event, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
