Pitt Brings Smaller Group to Virginia Tech

Date:

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Pitt brought a full contingent to Morgantown, W.Va. earlier this month, but as the team flew into Roanoke, Va. Friday night, a much smaller group made the trip.

A handful of Pitt starters — Jake Kradel, Bangally Kamara and Devin Danielson — did not make the trip to Blacksburg, Va., and it’s opened up a few more spots for some young players across a few key position groups.

Kenny Johnson, Montravius Lloyd, Israel Polk, Jordan Bass, Rasheem Biles, Cruce Brookins, Braylan Lovelace, BJ Williams, Tai Ray and Sam Carpenter headline the group of true freshmen who made the trip out.

Lovelace should be expected to get a fair share of snaps at Star linebacker against Virginia Tech, rotating alongside Kyle Louis, and Johnson’s growing role in the offense should continue — as well as his prowess as a return man. Bass and Biles should continue to earn their fair share of special teams reps, too.
