Flannel Fest – a 90s Outfield Music Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at SRP Park, 187 W. Railroad Ave., in North Augusta. Gates open at noon. The lineup for Flannel Fest includes Black Daze, the Ultimate Soundgarden Tribute; Rooster, a tribute to Alice in Chains; and Corduroy, the Pearl Jam experience. The first band will take the stage at 1 p.m. General admission tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the gate. A Disney-themed Spooktacular Trick or Treat Trail will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4-6 p.m. at the Aiken County Family YMCA, 621 Trolley Line Road in Graniteville. The event is free and open to the public.

Edgefield Arts with a Heart will host a market Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Edgefield Town Square, 106 Courthouse Square. There will be an array of local artists and crafters, as well as entertainment and adoptable pets from SC Paw N Hooves Rescue on the Edgefield town square. The 2023 Fall Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Aiken Electric Cooperative Community Room and parking lot, 2790 Wagener Road. Kendrick Women’s Clinic will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8 a.m. at Kendrick Paint & Body, 1424 Broad St. in Augusta. Attendees can learn about basic car maintenance, including oil and tire changes, checking fluids, wiper installation and more. There is no cost to attend. Attendees are asked to wear closed toe shoes and long pants to the event.

The Crosland Park Neighborhood Cooperative will hold a neighborhood meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Community Resource Center, 1248 Crosland Drive N.E. 

The Back to Basics Alcoholics Anonymous group will meet in-person at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Road. Masks are encouraged for those who are not vaccinated.

A documentary titled “Descended from the Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street” will be shown Sunday, Oct. 22, in the Etherredge Center at USC Aiken. The documentary is about the Tulsa Race Massacre where North Tulsa’s Greenwood District, the most prosperous Black community in America, was violently destroyed in 1921. After the film, there will be a panel discussion with prominent African American leaders and historians from Aiken to answer questions from the crowd. Every ticket will include entry for a pre-show reception.

OCT. 23

FOTAS will hold its annual helicopter ball drop and Playing Fore the Pets Golf Tournament Monday, Oct. 23, at the The Reserve Club at Woodside, 3000 The Reserve Club Drive. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the ball drop at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The cost is $125 per golfer and includes breakfast, 18 holes of golf, cart, range balls and practice facility, golfer gift and lunch. Citizens for Nuclear Technology will host the 32nd annual Edward Teller Lecture and Banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Amentum Performing Arts Center, 126 Newberry St. S.W. The distinguished guest speaker is the Honorable Joyce Connery, who serves as the chair of the Defense Nuclear Safety Board. Several award and scholarship winners will be recognized at the event. A Trick-or-Treat Drop In will be held Friday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aiken County Visitors Center, 135 Laurens St. N.W. Drop in, make a quick craft, get a spooky treat, show off your costume and pose for a photo-op. The event is free to the public while supplies last.

Halloween Storytime and Trick-or-Treating will be held Friday, Oct. 27, at the Aiken County Public Library, 314 Chesterfield St. Storytimes will be held at 10:15-10:30 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. to noon. Trick-or-treating will be from 10:30-11:40 a.m. Costumes are encouraged by not required. Registration for storytime starts on Tuesday, Oct. 10. You can only sign up for one storytime. There is no registration for trick-or-treating.
