Crop comments: It’s a week of non-movement in this week’s Crop, pretty much because the group had a successful Week 9. … Riverside retains the top spot, even though it slogged through a 14-12 win over Mayfield. Credit the Wildcats for pushing the area’s top team. … Mentor stays at No. 2. As well as the Cardinals are playing, it was tempting to move them up to No. 1, but Riverside owns a head-to-head win. … Perry stays at No. 3 as the area’s only undefeated team. … Lake Catholic lost to Walsh Jesuit in Week 9, but remains at No. 4. Would any team ranked behind the Cougars have fared any better, putting up 38 points against Walsh in a defeat? … Kenston stays at No. 5 and can clinch the undefeated WRC run — quite the feat — this week against upset-minded North. … Chardon stays at No. 6 but can throw the Crop into turmoil if the Hilltoppers can upend top-spot Riverside this week, which is NOT out of the question. … Kirtland probably deserves more than No. 7. We say that a lot here. Don’t be surprised if the Hornets are playing in December. … VASJ ran all over Akron SVSM last week. The Vikings stay at No. 8 and are a team nobody wants to face in Week 11. … Geneva stays at No. 9 after an impressive win over Madison, while Gilmour (7-2) gets back in the Crop at No. 10. When QB Jake Kavcic is healthy — and he is — they are such a scary offense.
