Time: 3 p.m.
The Manhattan women’s soccer team has a road contest on October 18, when they travel to Jersey City to take on conference for Saint Peter’s in an afternoon contest.
The Path: The Jaspers are coming off of back to back defeats, taking a 2-1 loss vs Niagara and a 1-0 defeat vs Fairfield. Manhattan is now 3-7-3 overall, and 2-4-2 in conference play for the 2023 season.
Leading the Way: Kaitlyn Cooke and Sami Derrico have scored two goals apiece for the Jaspers, while five players have scored one goal in what has been a balanced scoring attack for Manhattan. Margaret Brunk has made 68 saves at the goalkeeper spot after facing 86 shots.
All-Time Series: Manhattan is 23-3-1 all time against Saint Peter’s, including 19-0-1 in their last 20 matchups. The Jaspers drew 2-2 at Gaelic Park in their most recent matchup in 2022.
Saint Peter’s: Saint Peter’s is 4-8 thus far this season, including 2-5 in conference play. This past week they lost 6-0 at Niagara and won 3-2 vs Iona.
Standings: With two games remaining, the Jaspers need to be perfect to secure a spot in the MAAC tournament. As it stands, Manhattan is in 8th place, two points out of a spot in the coveted top six. A win Wednesday is crucial in keeping the Jaspers hopes alive for postseason play.
