Party crowd ready for big pub crawl here | City News

Date:

For kids, Halloween means three words: “trick or treat.”

For the party crowd, Halloween boils down to two words: “pub crawl.”

As one “pub crawl” promoter howls:

“Scottsdale, it’s time for Halloween, bring out the zombies, ghouls and ghosts for this crawl of a lifetime!”

According to Scottsdale Police Sgt. Alison Sempsis, Halloween is “definitely entertaining” – and keeps officers busy in the Entertainment District.

Clubs here typically apply for and receive special event permits to extend their patios and have outdoor music.

This year’s “official” Entertainment District pub crawl begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Wasted Grain, 7295 E. Stetson Drive.

The Eventbrite-advertised Halloween crawl tickets range from $9.99-29.99 and include “three-to-four drinks or shots” with admission to at least four venues, where DJs will be pumping out Halloween-themed club music.

While Oct. 28 is the “main event,” pubcrawls.com is also sponsoring Entertainment District Halloween bar hops Oct. 21, 22 and 27.

Boondocks is sponsoring a rival pub crawl Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28.

For those looking for a slightly more refined setting, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art hosts “Mystery in the Museum” – “cryptic messages have been left behind by a mysterious figure, and we need your help to decipher them” – at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and “Succulent Skulls with Dig It Gardens” – “create your own succulent arrangement in a custom skull planter” – at noon Saturday, Oct. 28.

WestWorld hosts “Super Unnatural,” a Friday-Saturday music festival featuring Nora En Pure, “the deep house and indie dance music sensation that is rippling through the sonic sphere.”

For family fun, the W Scottsdale hosts its annual Fall Festival at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Chaparral Park, 5401 N. Hayden Road.

The free event includes costume and pumpkin-carving contests, carnival games and food trucks.
