In less than 48 hours, there will be an inaugural girls flag football champion.
Four Frederick County teams will compete for the crown on Wednesday at Under Armour’s “The Stadium at The House,” a new facility in Baltimore’s Port Covington. The title game will conclude the first season of the varsity sport in Maryland.
No. 1 seed Urbana (8-0) will face No. 4 Thomas Johnson (5-3) at 4:45 p.m. in the first semifinal. The Hawks enter as the only undefeated team and presumptive favorite, though the Patriots were the only team all season to hold them to single-digit scoring in an 8-0 Urbana win on Sept. 8.
The second semifinal, which features No. 2 Middletown (7-1) and No. 3 Linganore (6-2), will follow that matchup at 5:45. The Knights defeated the Lancers 12-7 on Oct. 11 and enter on a seven-game winning streak.
The winners of those games will face off in the championship at 7:30, with the trophy presented to the winner on the field immediately following the contest.
Between the second semifinal and the title game, there will be an awards ceremony highlighting standout players and coaches.
The Baltimore Ravens’ YouTube channel will also livestream all three games.
