FALCON HEIGHTS — Madelia’s Josiah DeMaris and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Madyson Steele both placed in the top 100 runners at the Class A State Cross-Country Championships on Saturday at Les Bolstad Golf Course.
DeMaris, a junior at Madelia High School, finished 42nd in the boys race with a time of 17:01.8. Last year at state, DeMaris finished 67th overall with a time of 17:18.77.
Eddie Snider of Mounds Park Academy won the boys race with a time of 15:40.
Steele took 96th in the girls race this year with a time of 21:20. Last year at state along with the GFW girls team, Steele finished 45th overall in 20:16.52.
St. John’s Prep runner Olivia Pauly won the girls race with a time of 18:20.5.
