Kiss Become First US Band To Go Virtual And Become Avatars | Entertainment

Date:

On December 2, Kiss gave their final performance of their The End of the Road farewell tour at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. However, this is not the end for the band. During the encore, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer left the stage. In their absence appeared digital avatars of themselves. After the quick transformation, the virtual Kiss played ‘God Gave Rock and Roll to You.’ The avatars were created by George Lucas’ special-effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, in partnership with Pophouse Entertainment Group. Per Sundin, CEO of Pophouse Entertainment, says this new technology will allow the legendary rock band to continue their legacy for “eternity.” In order to create their holograms, they performed in motion capture suits. So, after 50 years, Kiss have embraced a form of digital immortality.
