After months of speculation and waiting, YG Entertainment officially announced BLACKPINK’s renewal of their group contract with the label. The news marks the group’s successful continuation into its 8th year, effectively breaking the seven-year jinx often observed in South Korea.
Although the group has renewed their collective contract, negotiations for individual contracts with members Rose, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo are still ongoing. A statement from the label expressed satisfaction, stating, ‘We are pleased to confirm the signing of exclusive group contracts for all four BLACKPINK members by our board of directors.’
They further added “BLACKPINK will continue to do its best to shine more brightly in the world music market as an artist representing K-POP, and we will continue to give their unwavering support and faith in their actions.”
Their contract expired in August and the members have now renewed it in December, as per the announcement. Together, YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK has earned a lot of awards and achievements. The group made their last comeback with ‘Born Pink’ which broke all records.
Since their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has emerged as the world’s leading K-pop girl group. In addition to their collective success, individual members have also launched solo music projects, receiving widespread acclaim.
