Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield to Travel to Ghana and Namibia December 5-8

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, will travel to Ghana and Namibia from December 5-8.

In Ghana, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will lead the U.S. delegation to the 2023 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial. At the Ministerial, she will announce U.S. pledges to improve the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping operations. While in Accra, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will meet with senior Ghanaian officials and other leaders in global peacekeeping. The Ambassador will also give remarks on African peace and security at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center and engage with civil society.

In Namibia, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will deliver the keynote address at the dedication ceremony of the new U.S. Embassy compound in Windhoek. She will announce a public-private partnership to increase U.S. and private sector investment in food security and emergency drought relief and visit U.S. funded projects designed to advance the Sustainable Development Goals in Namibia. She will also meet with senior Namibian government officials and engage with youth leaders.
