Ann Marie (Jelsing) Goetz, originally from Rugby, ND, passed away in Greeley, CO, on November 7, 2023, at the age of 88.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday Nov. 16, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.
Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Ann was born in Rugby to Edwin and Ruth (Sand) Jelsing. She graduated from Rugby High School in 1952. Ann married Anton “Tony” Goetz on May 30, 1953.
Ann worked at Lien’s Jewelry from 1969-1974. She devoted her life to raising four children and helping her husband on the farm near Silva, ND, until they retired and moved to Rugby in 1994. She had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Heart of America Library and she and Tony were members of The Eagles Club. Ann also volunteered at the hospital, making crafts and lefsa.
She loved sewing/quilting, embroidery, crafts, reading, puzzles, gardening, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family. She loved working with the family Genealogy and created several family history books and sent them to the relatives. Ann was a great cook who loved cooking for her family and friends. She passed along many recipes to her children.
Ann is survived by her children, David (Nancy) Goetz, Laughlin, NV, Douglas (Darlene) Goetz, Rugby, ND, Ruth (Bill) Walter, Kersey, CO, and LeAnne (Wayne) Goetz, Bozeman, MT; sister, Judy Larkin, Colfax, WA; brother, Larry (Marlene) Jelsing, Kennewick, WA; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ruth Jelsing; sister, Mardelle Knudson; brother-in-law, Sten Larkin; husband, Tony Goetz; and her grandson, Sean Hasselstrom.
