The best tenure of a Wake Forest head coach in the ACC is coming to a close.
After a decade in the role, Dave Clawson is stepping down from the Demon Deacons’ job and going into an advisory role. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the news, stating the decision was Clawson’s.

Clawson finished his career 67-69, the best winning percentage of any Wake Forest head coach in 71 years. He also won the ACC Atlantic in 2021, earning Coach of the Year in the conference.
This isn’t uncommon to see coaches step down in this new era of college football and the Demon Deacons now have to navigate the future without the reliability of Clawson.
