PROVIDENCE, R.I.- It was announced today (October 18) that Providence junior Bryce Hopkins (Oak Park, III.) was named to the CBS Sports Preseason All-America Third Team. It marks the second honor of the week for Hopkins as he was named Preseason Second Team All-America by College Hoops on October 17.
Last season, Hopkins started all 33 games in his first season with the Friars. Hopkins, who earned First Team ALL-BIG EAST honors in 2022-23, led the Friars in scoring (15.8 ppg), rebounding (8.5), and double-doubles (10). He was tied for sixth in scoring and he was second in rebounding amongst BIG EAST players in overall action. Hopkins also ranked third in the league in defensive rebounds (226, 6.8 rpg) and fourth in minutes played (34.9 mpg). In BIG EAST action, he finished third in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg). He posted a team-best 10 double-doubles, including a 29-point, 23-rebound, three-steal effort in a double-overtime win over Marquette (103-98) on December 20, 2022. Hopkins’ 20-20 game was the 34th in program history. For his efforts, Hopkins also earned 2023 Associated Press ALL-BIG EAST First Team honors, USBWA District 1 Honors and NABC All-District 5 First Team accolades.
