Calling for healthier food and food environments at sports events: civil society and academia

Date:

Join the WHO Department of Nutrition and Food Safety for the webinar ‘Calling for healthier food and food environments at sports events: civil society and academia’, the second of three webinars hosted on the occasion of the launch of a new action guide ‘Healthier food and healthier food environments at sports events’. The publication, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, Qatar, proposes five actions to achieve healthier food and healthier food environments at the different types of food service and sales points in and around sports stadia.

This webinar aims to discuss learnings of, and guidance to, introducing healthier food and healthier food environments at sports events to encourage and support civil society and academia in their efforts to promote awareness and accountability for health in sports settings.

Civil society organizations and consumer groups are important mobilizers of change and can help secure political commitment and ensure accountability for healthier food options and food environments in sports event settings. They are key in representing the shifting preferences and demands for healthier food options at sports events and in voicing consumer perspectives.

Likewise, academia can help gather and disseminate evidence on ongoing initiatives and support the development and implementation of rigorous evaluations for healthier sports event activities.

Join us in exploring how civil society and academia play a key role in providing the evidence base and related advocacy activities to drive forward healthier food and healthier food environments initiatives.
