Cardinals Travel to Boston College

Date:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women’s soccer team is heading on the road as they begin a three-game road swing this weekend. The Cardinals are traveling to New England to take on Boston College on Saturday night at the Newton Soccer Complex. The Cardinals and Eagles are set to square off at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.

The Cardinals are coming off a 2-1 home win over Syracuse on Senior Day this past Sunday. After a scoreless first half, the Cardinals scored two goals in over three minutes to pull ahead and put the game out of reach. Freshman Betsy Huckaby scored her first career goal to open the scoring and got the assist from fellow freshman Fiona Gaißer. Moments later, Emerson Jennings tallied her second goal of the season and got the assist from team-leader Addie Chester with her fifth helper of the season.

The Cardinals defense had another strong showing in the home win over Syracuse as they allowed just one goal and one shot on goal against the Orange. The Cardinals have allowed just 10 goals in their nine home games this season and only 38 shots on goal in those nine games.

The Cardinals and Eagles are set to meet for the ninth time in program history and the series history is tied 4-4 between the two schools. The Cardinals are 1-2 all-time in games played in Newton and this will be the first trip for the Cardinals up there since the 2019 season. In the 2019 matchup, Louisville came away with a 2-1 win and Ravin Alexander earned the start on the back line for the Cardinals that game. The Cardinals have won three of the last four matchups against the Eagles.

The Cardinals will return to campus following Saturday’s match before heading out on the road again next week. Louisville will travel to Clemson on Oct. 19 and to Wake Forest on Oct. 22 to close out the current three-game road swing.
