A brand new entertainment center recently debuted in the Garden State.
Cape Square Entertainment opened its doors in Rio Grande, N.J. on July 15.
The entertainment complex is located at 3801 Route 9 in the space of a former Kmart.
Cape Square Entertainment Center features 16-lane bowling alley Cape Square Bowl, a 3,000 square-foot arcade and a golf simulator. It also has Cape Square Theater, which includes eight theaters with luxury seats and in-seat dining.
Cape Kitchen and Craft, the center’s restaurant and bar, offers various eats, like wings, burgers, wraps, steak, salmon, specialty mac and cheeses and an extensive cocktail list.
The dining area also includes an outdoor beer garden.
Town Square Entertainment — which owns Cape Square — also operates Harbor Square Theatre in Stone Harbor, Tilton Square Theatre in Northfield and Ventnor Square Theatre in Ventnor.
The company purchased the Moorlyn Theatre in Ocean City last year and plans to renovate and reopen the theater soon.
This continues a trend of former Kmart buildings transitioning into new businesses in the Garden State.
An old Kmart building was converted into an entertainment center in Berlin earlier this year.
Target stores in Wall Township, Somers Point and Kearny have all replaced shuttered Kmarts. Another Target store is now planned to replace a former Kmart in Jersey City.
Marshalls and HomeGoods are expected to replace a former Kmart in Parsippany.
