Scary Creature Feature
Despite its name, this family-friendly event includes spooky stories around a campfire and a guided walk through woods to encounter and learn about not-so-scary nocturnal creatures that live in the forest. It runs this Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Andrew J. Conner Nature Center at Asbury Woods, 4105 Asbury Road. The program is recommended for ages 3 to 8 and goes on regardless of the weather. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Guest must preregister. ‘Misery’
Based on the novel by Stephen King, the stage adaptation about a novelist’s biggest fan, who holds him prisoner after a car accident, opens Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Erie Playhouse, 13 W. 10th St. Additional shows are Oct. 14, 20, 21 and 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 22 and 29 at 2 p.m. This production contains adult language and violence. Tickets are $20.40 plus fees for this Friday and Saturday and $17.49 to $27.40 plus fees for remaining shows. ‘The Cat and the Canary’
This is the final weekend to see the show at All An Act Theatre, 652 W. 17th St. Show times are Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, 3 p.m. In the John Willard play, Ambrose West’s will designates that Annabelle West is his sole heir if there is no indication that she suffers from insanity. So the family tries to unbalance Annabelle with tales of lunatics, murders and death strikes. Ticekts are $18 for adults, $15 for students and ages 55 and older, and $5 for ages 6-11. ‘An Evening with Whitney Cummings’
The comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, entrepreneur and host of the hit podcast “Good for You” will appear Friday at 8 p.m. at the Warner Theatre, 811 State St. Best known for creating and starring in the NBC series “Whitney,” Cummings has appeared in numerous television shows, films and stand-up specials. ‘The Eras Tour’
The Taylor Swift concert film experience comes to Cinemark’s Tinseltown Erie, 1910 Rotunda Drive, starting Friday with shows at 6, 6:20, 6:40, 7, 7:20, 8, 9:45, 10:25, 10:45, 11:05 and 11:45 p.m. and Saturday at 12:13 a.m. Must be age 17 or older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Victorian Halloween
See a prisoner’s dock and hear stories of murder, mayhem, Victorian traditions and historical accounts that are interactive, fun, spooky and/or whimsical this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Hagen History Center, 356 W. Sixth St. A storyteller will be in each room of the Watson-Curtze Mansion to share traditions that deal with windows, mirrors, portraits, hair wreaths, games and more. Admission is $2.
