Claremont High School

Football (0-6)
South Hills blew out Claremont 41-7 in Covina on September 29. The Pack play Chino Friday at 7 p.m.

The Wolfpack’s 2023 homecoming game versus West Covina is set for 7 p.m. Friday, October 13.

 

Boys and girls cross-country
Results from the 16th annual Twilight XC Invitational: Claremont took second overall in the varsity girls 3A-4A race with a score of 96; seniors L’Mio Edwards (18:11.1) and Denise Jie Yi Chen (18:17.3) led the charge, placing seventh and eighth, respectively, while sophomore Isla Bulmer finished 17th at 18:40. In the varsity boys 3A-4A race, CHS took seventh overall with 221 points. Sophomore Lyle Mideiros finished highest for the Pack at 16th with a time of 16:02.8. Full results are at athletic.net.

Before next week’s break the teams are at Woodward Park in Fresno this Saturday for the 44th annual ASICS Clovis Invitational, set for 8 a.m.

 

Girls tennis (7-2)
The Pack visited Bonita September 28, coming away with a 10-8 victory, then upset Ayala Tuesday, 12-6 at home. Claremont visited Alta Loma after press time Thursday.

Glendora hosts CHS Tuesday, October 10, then Colony comes to town Thursday, October 12. Both matches are set for 3:15 p.m.

 

Girls volleyball (13-10)
The team shutout Colony, 3-0, at home Monday, then narrowly lost against the visiting Bonita Bearcats on Wednesday, 3-2.

The team travels to La Serna Friday for a 4:45 p.m. contest then heads to Ayala, Monday, October 9, at 4 p.m.

 

Girls golf (7-1)
CHS defeated Bonita, 216-234, at Marshall Canyon September 28 and followed it up Tuesday with a 208-215 win at home against Ayala.

The Wolfpack host Glendora at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 10.

 

Boys water polo (5-5)
Glendora beat hosts Claremont 15-12 on Tuesday. The Pack bounced back on the road at Colony Wednesday, winning 28-1.

Claremont heads to Bonita Monday, October 9, then welcomes Ayala Wednesday, October 11. Both games are at 4 p.m. They cap the week at Los Osos at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 12.

 

The Webb Schools

Football (4-1)
Webb bested Temecula Prep, 21-10, at home September 28 before this week’s bye. The team head to San Jacinto Valley Saturday, October 14, for a noon kick off.

 

Boys and girls cross-country
Results from the September 30 Bellarmine Invitational: The Gauls boys varsity team placed sixth with 185 points in the race for schools with less than 600 students. Webb junior Griffin Suttner took fifth overall with a time of 17:45.7. Full results are at bell-jeff.org.

A San Joaquin League cluster is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 10 at Avalon High School.

 

Girls tennis (9-3)
Webb welcomed Fairmont Prep September 28 and triumphed 14-4.

Pacifica Christian visits Tuesday, October 10 before Western Christian stops by Friday, October 13. Both matches are at 3:30 p.m.

 

Girls volleyball (7-13)
The team was off this week and return Monday, October 9 with a home game with Fairmont Prep followed by a trip to Western Christian Wednesday, October 11. Both games are at 6 p.m.

 

Girls golf (7-1)
The Gauls thwarted Samueli Academy, 243-339, at home September 28 and are next due to face Tarbut V’ Torah in Irvine at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 11.

 

Boys water polo (14-3)
Webb hosted and beat Sierra Vista September 28, coming away with a lopsided 17-4 win.

Following a brief break, the Gauls receive 3:30 p.m. visits from Edgewood Tuesday, October 10, and La Puente Thursday, October 12.
