The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Sonny is a student from West Africa who has been going to school in eastern Idaho for the past two years. It has been his dream to study in America and he had to overcome many obstacles to get here. Sonny is like his name – he brightens the room when he walks in. He is kind to everyone around him and loves to play soccer.
Sonny damaged both of his knees and is in a lot of pain. Last year he had surgery on one of his knees and he is prepping to have the other knee surgery done. While he has insurance, he is only allowed to work part-time on campus. It is financially impossible for him to earn or save enough money to cover all of his medical bills, rent, tuition and food for the 6-12 weeks after his surgery.
Sonny is just so grateful to be here to be able to study in America but he won’t ask for help and can’t turn to his family for help due to their financial situation in West Africa. A little help would go a long way for Sonny.
Secret Santa asked if we would pay Sonny a visit and surprise him with some early Christmas gifts. Watch the video in the player above!
