When can we expect Kentucky to finally have their big men?
Happy Wednesday, BBN!
We’re now five games into the regular season, and there still hasn’t been a real update or timeline for any of the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball bigs…until news broke Tuesday night that Aaron Bradshaw was set to resume practicing on Wednesday.
The Wildcats currently have three 7-footers out, whether it be injuries or eligibility issues right now, and not having a presence down low is bothering coach John Calipari.
“We need one of these big guys,” Calipari said after playing Stonehill. “We just gotta have a big guy. We get that— everybody will say, ‘It’ll screw you up’. Let me deal with that. I’ll deal with that. I’d like to have all three of them, to be honest.”
Aaron Bradshaw
When the season started, we heard it “should be a week or two at most away from being able to fully practice and play.”
Well, we’re into Week 3, and Bradshaw will reportedly practice today, so he appears close to making his return to game action so long as there are no setbacks.
It can’t be overrated how big this is for Kentucky, as Bradshaw has the potential to be one of the best big men in the country and a top-10 NBA Draft pick.
Zvonimir Ivisic
Ivisic is still awaiting approval from the NCAA to be deemed eligible this season. This is pretty ridiculous and only something the NCAA could pull off, so everything is really up in the air with Big Z. All we can do is hope.
Ugonna Onyenso
BBN is going to have to wait a while after Bradshaw hits the floor to see Onyenso, who was injured during a GLOBL JAM scrimmage in July and is believed to be several weeks behind Bradshaw.
We might see Ugo before the North Carolina or Louisville games, but we should certainly see him before conference play starts at Florida on January 6th.
It’s been a crazy ride with the big men, but hopefully the craziness is ending soon.
