The Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance announced yesterday that one of its systems had been targeted in an electronic hacking attempt carried out by an unknown virus.

In a statement obtained by Anadolu Agency, the ministry stated that protection systems and measures were activated, and the level of the hacking attempt is currently being assessed.

The ministry further stated: “Salary transfer procedures for government employees will not be affected, as the government’s financial systems are separate, and work is proceeding as normal.”

The statement also mentioned that the ministry has been in contact with the National Cybersecurity Centre to keep them informed of the latest developments, without providing further details regarding any other effects the ministry may have faced as a result of the attacks.
