POSEN — The Posen High football team was efficient in its latest win, a 58-12 triumph over Rock-Mid Peninsula on Saturday at home.
On the ground, Jack Romel, Ethan Romel, John Ennest, Alex Soik and Colton Paull all had touchdowns for the Vikings, who are 6-0 for the first time since 2015.
Jack Romel was 1-for-2 passing for 25 yards and a touchdown. Grayson Hincka was 4-of-6 passing for 68 yards and a score. Logan Timm and Soik each had a receiving touchdown.
On defense, Eli Chojacki had four solo tackles and three assists for Posen and Jack Romel had three total tackles and two interceptions, one of which was returned 37 yards for a touchdown.
Alcona 52, Onaway 6
LINCOLN — Collin Walker caught three touchdown passes and the Alcona High football team improved to 5-1 with a 52-6 win over Onaway on Friday.
Jeremiah Bullis and William Leibler each had a touchdown catch and quarterback Garrett Somers had two rushing touchdowns.
Alcona’s defense was led by the interior play of Zean Monnier and William O’Neill as well as the linebacking play of Evan Borsvold and Walker. O”Neill and Liebler also provided takeaways for the tigers.
Alcona plays Au Gres this week.
Atlanta 56, Charlton Heston 12
Jace Cheedie threw three touchdowns and ran for two more as the Atlanta High football team romped past Charlton Heston 56-12 on Friday.
Cheedie finished 14-of-22 passing for 188 yards and three touchdowns against one interception for Atlanta (2-4). On the ground, he had nine carries for 54 yards and two scores.
Brett Culham had 16 carries for 143 yards and two scores and two catches for 43 yards and a touchdown. Blake King and Landon Galea each added a touchdown reception.
Culham led Atlanta’s defense with 12 tackles, Cheedie had 10 and Cohen Armock had nine.
Atlanta plays Hillman this week.

Alpena competes in Shepherd Invite
SHEPHERD — Racing in the Elite Division at the Shepherd Invitational on Saturday, both the Alpena boys and girls cross country teams finished in 28th place out the 43 large school teams represented.
Emma Dickins led Alpena girls with a season-best performance of 19:48. Sam Zolnierek closely followed with a PR in 20:10. Next in were Amelia Roznowski with an PR of 21:14, Elizabeth Barnhill, with a PR of 21:56 and Lexi Gembel in 25:57
John Kurowski ran 16:49 to lead the Wildcat boys. Hayden Bacchus and Kenan Knight were right on his heels at 17:18 and 17:19 respectively. Austin Rienhardt also broke into the 17-minute bracket for the first time at 17:53. Thurston Imhoff finished the scoring for the team with his 18:22 clocking.
The team has shown continued improvement as the season progresses. An impressive 15 of the 19 participants in today’s meet ran either season or career best times.
