NEW ULM — The Stark Longhorns took advantage of 11 walks from three different Lamberton pitchers to score five runs off of the free passes en route to an 8-1 win over the Long Sox Saturday night at Johnson Park in a Region 2C amateur baseball playoff game.
Adam Sellner got the win for Stark. He went eight innings and gave up one run. He allowed five hits and struck out five.
Jake Wahl took the loss for the Long Sox. He went 3 1/3 innings and was charged with five runs.
Sean Mathiowetz, Mason Cox and Dylan Klein each had two hits for Stark, with Cox adding three RBIs.
Luke Willhite had three hits for Lamberton, with Kyle Krzmarzick adding two.
Lamberton now plays Searles Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in Springfield in an elimination game.
Stark tangles with Courtland next Saturday at 7 p.m. in Springfield.
Stark plated three runs in the bottom of the first when Mathiowetz singled and Brandon Helget walked. Mathiowetz came around from second to score on a wild pitch. A Cox double and a Nick Labat groundout made it 3-0.
The Long Sox got their only run of the game in the second when Josh Altermatt walked and scored on a Krzmarzick single.
Stark added two more runs in the second on walks to Jake Mangen and Tim Seifert, a Mathiowetz infield single, a walk to Helget and an infield error.
Stark pushed another run across in the fifth on two more walks and an error before salting the game away in the eighth on a Cox two-run single.
