MTSU travel to FIU on Tuesday and Wednesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team will head to Miami, Fla. to take on the FIU Panthers on Tuesday, October 3 and Wednesday, October 4. Both matches start at 5 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+. The matches will have live stats to follow along.

The Blue Raiders are back on the road after hosting Liberty over the weekend. MTSU swept the Flames on Friday earning their first conference win of the season. On Saturday, the Blue Raiders defeated Liberty in four. MTSU is second in conference in hitting percentage hitting at a .284 clip.

Graduate student Kaylee Oscarson leads CUSA in hitting percentage with a .415 hitting percentage. Oscarson has a toal of 125 kills so far this season. Senior Taylot Eisert leads conference in assists per set earning 10.96 per set. Redshirt senior Kayla Henley has recorded 185 kills averaging 3.36 per set. Henley is just four kills away from 1,000 career kills.

Scouting the FIU Panthers
The FIU Panthers are 8-9 on the season. In the last match, the Panthers defeated Sam Houston twice over the weekend. FIU is 4-0 in Conference USA. The Panthers returns six players from last season. The team added six transfers and three freshmen.

On offense, senior Jade Sadeiko leads the team in kills with 169 averaging 3.02 per set. Sophomore Savannah Cook has 360 assists tallying 10.29 per set.

On defense, sophomore Mandi Morioka has recorded 193 digs so far this season. Senior Travel Morris is earning 1.02 block per set and has tallied 57 blocks in the season.

These two matches will mark meeting No. 40 and 41 between the two programs. The Blue Raiders lead the series 27-12. In the last meeting, the Panthers won 3-2 in 2022.

  • Oscarson has recorded 125 kills and leads Conference USA in hitting percentage with a .415 hitting percentage.
  • The Blue Raiders are second in conference in hitting percentage hitting .284.
  • Rhoda has 85 service aces needing 15 more to reach 100 career service aces. The program record is 116 held by Marley Banton.
  • Eisert broke the program record for career assists in the current 25-point era. Eisert is currently at 2,956 career assists. This season, she is a two-time CUSA Setter of the Week. Eisert was tabbed Tennessee Sports Writers Association Volleyball Player of the Week on 9/12. She leads conference in assists per set with 10.96.
  • Henley has recorded 996 kills in her career and is 4 away from 1000.
