NFL: Week 12 Wins, Losses, and Futures

Date:

Following a late afternoon comeback in a driving rain in Philly by Jalen Hurts and the Eagles and a Sunday Night win by Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, tonight’s tilt between NFC North rivals Chicago and Minnesota is all that remains of Week 12 in the NFL.

On today’s episode, the boys from Bet the EDGE surveyed the week’s results and ramifications.

Cleveland Browns

Jay Croucher (@croucherJD) is cautiously optimistic for Browns’ fans even with the injury to Myles Garrett suffered in yesterday’s loss to Denver.

“It doesn’t look good for Myles Garrett. If he can’t raise his shoulder and he says that he heard a pop I would guess that he’s done for the year. They still have a good defense outside of Garrett and they still have seven wins banked and the bottom of the AFC doesn’t look very good. So they can still make the playoffs but if they do, they’re going to have to squeak in. They get to play Tim Boyle and Jake Browning still on the schedule. So that could easily be two wins there and then you’re at nine.”

Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud (-10000 OROY) and the Texans did come up just short against Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars, but Croucher believes in Stroud and thought DeMeco Ryans (+400 COY) would send the rookie out for the 4th and 12 rather than opt for what would have been a career-long field goal for Amendola.

“CJ Stroud (+1800 MVP) is like the fourth favorite for MVP in the market and perhaps not unjustifiably so to be honest. When it was 4th and 12, I just assumed that they were going to bring Stroud out and he was just going to convert it. I think I have more faith in CJ Stroud to play quarterback than anyone in the league right now, which I know is wrong, but…”

Detroit Lions

The Lions stunk up the joint on Thanksgiving and Drew Dinsick (@whale_capper) is no longer on the Dan Campbell (+175 COY) for Coach of the Year band wagon.

“I don’t feel like giving it to the guy that got his teeth kicked in by Matt Lafleur (+10000 COY) home on Thanksgiving. What in the world?! Look, I will have unresolved anger over that Lions’ loss for a couple of weeks because that cost me a lot of money. That stunk! Just the complete lack of juice that the Lions came out with in that game and letting Love run all over them in the 1st half and Goff, like some of those absolute bonehead mistakes from Goff. That’s your that’s your Coach of the Year? Someone else can vote for him but not me.”

Seattle Seahawks

Thanksgiving closed with San Francisco pounding Seattle. Tough to feel confident about the Seahawks (+116 to make the playoffs) moving forward even though they sit as a wild card team if the playoffs started today.

“People probably slept through this because it was Thanksgiving Night,” said Dinsick. “It was not a competitive game. We kind of knew that this wasn’t a good matchup for them…boy oh boy, they were really, really bad. Geno looks beat up and lost. The offensive line was an absolute atrocity. Seahawks – are they a candidate to lose out? I think it’s not out of the realm.”

Will Stroud continue his meteoric assent? Will Seattle’s demise continue? Regardless, work to get the best of the numbers. Tune to Bet the EDGE weekdays.
