No. 9 St. Peter serves Big South volleyball loss to Fairmont | News, Sports, Jobs

ST. PETER — The Class 3A No. 9-ranked St. Peter Saints swept the Fairmont Cardinals, 25-7, 25-4, 25-15, during Big South Conference volleyball action Thursday night in St. Peter.

Brylee Miller produced a dozen digs to complement three kills and 100 percent serving to top the Cardinals, while teammate Mariah Moeller also proved perfect from the service line.

Grace Pendergast, Ellie Ortega and Danika Eisenmenger each contributed two kills for Fairmont, Nevaeh Rahm tallied three solo blocks and Leslie Zarling distributed five set assists.

Fairmont (4-16) travels to Jackson County Central on Monday night for a conference clash.

Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman 3, Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey 1 — Madisen Lewis produced a team-best eight kills to complement a team-high three aces behind 18 of 18 serving to help power the Jaguars to a 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-15 non-league triumph over the Wolverines on Thursday night in Mountain Lake.

Brianna Petrowiak smacked seven kills for the Jaguars, while Bethany Petrowiak topped the defense by tallying seven solo blocks.

Ashley Singleton and Londyn Bowers made 14 and 13 digs, respectively, to pace the Jaguars’ backrow defense, Keira Benck doled out 12 set assists, while Lindsey Diegnau dished out 12 set assists and connected on 22 of 24 serves.

The Jaguars play host to Fairmont on Tuesday night in Truman.

Martin County West 3, Blue Earth Area 2 — The Mavericks outlasted the Bucs by respective game scores of 22-25, 25-17, 26-24, 22-25, 15-3, during nonconference action Thursday night in Blue Earth.

Blue Earth Area honored returning players from the 1998 volleyball team that qualified for the state tournament.

Autumn Gordon drilled 15 kills for BEA, Kylee Eckmann notched seven spike-winners, while Berkley Hagedorn and Hailey Becker each supplied four kills. Anna Mwangi and Katherine Armon chipped in three kills apiece.

Madison Ehrich distributed 15 set assists for the Bucs, while Becker doled out 13 more.

Taylor Klabunde topped BEA in the dig department with 18, while Armon and Hagedorn contributed 16 and 12, respectively.

Becker scored 11 points, including four aces, on 19-for-22 serving, while Armon and Hagedorn each went 12 of 13 at the line. Armon tallied seven points, while Hagedorn scored four with two aces.

The Mavericks did not supply any individual or team statistics.

Blue Earth Area (6-14) plays host to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Monday, while Martin County West plays host to Sleepy Eye on Monday in Trimont.
