I was taken aback by William Galston’s prognostication that the terrorist attack from Gaza signals “The Beginning of the End for Netanyahu” (Politics & Ideas, Oct. 11) as prime minister of Israel. The personal-political implications of the Gaza border breach and the massacre of civilians are irrelevant for now. Besides, wars have a way of confounding the experts with regard to political winners and losers. Benjamin Netanyahu’s populist-conservatism may be exactly what Israel now needs in a wartime leader—no equivocation, only righteous indignation, determination and massive retaliation.
