HARBOR SPRINGS — The Alpena High boys soccer team dropped its season opener 5-0 on Friday against Harbor Springs.

(We) moved the ball around alright but lacked finishing from the midfield and forwards,” Alpena coach Gregg Supiran said.

Alpena (0-1) plays at Bay City Western on Tuesday.

BOYS TENNIS

Alpena wins Warrior Quad

UNIVERSITY CENTER — The Alpena High boys tennis team opened the season with a win Friday at the Warrior Quad, defeating Bay City John Glenn, Clio and Bay City Western.

Alpena finished with 17 points to win.

At one singles, John Bender earned first place for Alpena and Tyler Cloft earned first place at two singles. Landon Gagnon took second place at three singles.

In doubles action, Finn Williams and Nathan Pokorzynski earned first place at one doubles; Charles Renard and Joshua Nystrom earned first place at two doubles; Hunter Orr and Avery McConnell earned second place at three doubles and Zack Cloft and Evan McDonald earned second place at four doubles.
