River Hawks Set to Travel to Boston College and Brown

LOWELL, Mass. – After just over a week off, the UMass Lowell women’s basketball team (0-6) returns to action for two games in three days. The River Hawks are set to take on the Boston College Eagles (3-4) on December 3 before visiting the Brown Bears (5-3) on December 5.

LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks fell to 0-6 on the season after dropping Saturday’s contest against Fordham. Abbey Lindsey scored a career-high 22 points to go with four rebounds, two steals and one assist to lead the River Hawks. Sydney Watkins continued to be the squad’s most efficient rebounder, grabbing seven boards, and adding three steals and two assists. UMass Lowell started slow in the first quarter, but showed a strong effort the rest of the game. The River Hawks look to bounce back against two more tough opponents in Boston College and Brown.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College has lost three of its last four games, falling to #13/10 Ohio State, RV Marquette, and Wisconsin. The Eagles took down Providence 71-56 in their last win. Boston College will play Kentucky on the road Thursday before hosting the River Hawks on Sunday. Four players average double figures with Andrea Daley leading the way with 16.1 points per game. Dontavia Waggoner leads the team with 26 steals and averages 11.1 points while Teya Sidberry’s 6.7 rebounds per game leads the team.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown has won four of its last five games, taking down Loyola Chicago and Monmouth in its last two. The Bears defeated Bryant 58-53 on Wednesday night and host Johnson & Wales before UMass Lowell visits Providence. Kyla Jones leads the team averaging 18.3 points per game while Alyssa Moreland’s 6.1 rebounds per game is a team high. As a unit, Brown has 24 blocks and 64 steals in seven games.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would be the first victory of the season for the River Hawks and the first victory over both Boston College and Brown.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Mili Carrera leads the team averaging 11.0 points per game while Abbey Lindsey is up to 9.8 per game. Sydney Watkins has a team-high 44 rebounds, 19 steals and 15 assists. Rayne Durant leads the squad with eight blocks. Leilani Rodriguez is shooting 44% from three to lead the team.
