Stoughton Wins Again In Travel League | News, Sports, Jobs

CORRY, Pa. –The Wednesday Travel League held a second straight event at North Hills Golf Course.

Wayne Stoughton shot the low round of 74, edging Ed Tofil’s 75 by one stroke. Josh Hilliker was third with 77. Stoughton earned his third tour victory of the season and also reached 1,000 career points. With the victory, Stoughton took over sole possession of 10th place on the all-time tour wins list, breaking a four-way tie at 21 wins with Hilliker, Dave Mathews, and the late Butch Mackowiak.

The B Flight winner was Dave Wallace. Dave Criscione moved past Ken Kaus for 16th place on the all-time points List. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award, in his league debut, was Dillon Nelson.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight, Stoughton (No. 1); Criscione (Nos. 4, 13, 16), and Hilliker (No. 10); B Flight, Tom Sacilowski (Nos. 1, 4, 12), Bob Kujawa (No. 2), Wallace (No. 3), Dillon Nelson (No. 5), Pete Pinkoski (Nos. 7, 10, 18), and Jeff Nelson (No. 9).

Closest to the pin were Criscione (No. 4), Pinkoski (Nos. 7, 15), and Tofil (No. 11). Winners of the Steeplechase were Stoughton (A Flight) and Pinkoski (B Flight).

Top point winners were Pinkoski (52), Criscione (40) and Sacilowski (28). Season points leaders(through 28 events) are 1.vMike Wolfe (471), 2. Sacilowski(462), 3. Hilliker(432), 4. Robert Calph (425), 5. Dave Franklin (396), 6. Tofil (383), 7. Wallace (320), 8. Jeff Nelson (317), 9. Ken Kaus (293) and 10. Criscione (285).

This week the league plays Scenic Heights Golf Course in Wattsburg, PA for its annual Halloween “Spooktacular”. The first group tees off at 10 a.m. Golfers are asked to be signed up by noon today at 716-785-2291.
