The Weekend Preview – Nov. 9, 2023
RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 9, 2023) – Crossover season is here! Double-digit sports across the CAA will be in action this weekend. We will crown a CAA Champion in men’s soccer, and NCAA postseason action picks up with cross country, field hockey and women’s soccer. Additionally, the regular season concludes in volleyball, while just beginning in men’s and women’s basketball and continues in swimming and diving.
Men’s Soccer
Hofstra aims for its third-consecutive CAA title on Saturday night when it hosts Monmouth, in search of its first league crown in its second season in the league. The 7 p.m. contest in Hempstead can be seen on FloFC; a full preview will be available Friday.
Volleyball
It is the final weekend of the regular season in CAA Volleyball, where three berths to the conference tournament and seeding for the upcoming championship are on the line. Six teams – Charleston, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Hofstra, William & Mary and UNCW – are mathematically alive for the final three bids into the championship entering the weekend. Hofstra will host Stony Brook in a clash of Long Island rivals, and UNCW entertains William & Mary with heavy postseason impactions in play. In addition, Charleston travels to Hampton, and Northeastern welcomes faces Towson. The Tigers, Delaware and Campbell have secured bids to the CAA Championship and will lock in their seeding this weekend. Towson is seeking its fourth straight CAA Regular season title and can accomplish the feat outright with two wins in Boston this weekend. Cross Country
On Friday, CAA Cross Country teams will toe the line at NCAA Regional Championships.

Women’s Soccer
CAA Champion Towson will play in its first NCAA Tournament on Friday night when the Tigers face North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The 6 p.m. game can be seen on ESPN+; a full preview will be available Thursday evening.
Field Hockey
CAA Field Hockey Champion, William & Mary defeated Sacred Heart 4-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. The Tribe will be back in action on Friday, facing top-seeded North Carolina at 12 p.m. from Karen Shelton Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Swimming & Diving
It’s a light schedule in the pool as Monmouth is the only team in action. The Hawks entertain Manhattan on Friday afternoon.
Men’s & Women’s Basketball
CAA Basketball tipped off on Monday, and we have #CAAHoops action every day in November! The opening weekend of the 2023-24 season features 13 men’s games and 12 women’s games Friday through Sunday.
On the men’s side, highlights include Hofstra hosting Princeton (7 p.m., MSG2, FloHoops) and Monmouth visiting West Virginia (7 p.m., ESPN+) on Friday. For the women, Charleston travels to UNLV (9:30 p.m., Mountain West Network) on Friday before Campbell visits Virginia (2 p.m., ACCNX), and Northeastern plays at Boston College (2 p.m., ACCNX) on Sunday.
