Nothing kills the high of a great group trip faster than having to calculate who owes who how much, especially if different people picked up the tab at certain times.
Venmo launched a new in-app feature on Tuesday called Venmo Groups to make managing shared expenses totally seamless. No tedious spreadsheets necessary.
“We know managing ongoing expenses in a group can be challenging, in particular when each member covers different costs with different amounts at different times,” said Erika Sanchez, Vice President and General Manager at Venmo, in a statement.
The new feature was “one of our most requested,” Sanchez continued.
Previously, people had to split up and calculate expenses on their own before requesting money from someone else.

How does Venmo Groups work?
Venmo users can go to their “Me” page and tap the “Groups” tab to create a group, which will be ongoing.
Add users to the group and then they can start inputting expenses, which eliminates the need for a designated person to be in charge of tracking every penny. The app automatically calculates what each person owes and folks can settle up in just seconds in the app.
When can I start using Venmo Groups?
Some Venmo users will already see the new feature in their app if it’s the latest version, but it’ll be more widely available in the next few weeks.
