Virtual Tour Allows Visitors to Travel Back in Time to the Original Memorial Stadium
LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 17, 2023) – In honor of Memorial Stadium’s 100th anniversary, Nebraska Public Media Labs and content production team created a 2-D tour that allows visitors to virtually travel back in time to see Memorial Stadium as it was when it was first built, along with one of the venue’s first expansions.
Visitors to the “In The Deed The Glory: Memorial Stadium” website at NebraksaPublicMedia.org/MemorialStadium can use their computers or mobile devices to see how the stadium looked and learn about its history.
Using meticulous research and measurements, an historic model of Memorial Stadium was created. It allowed our producers to incorporate realistic “video” into the virtual tour.
As Husker fans navigate the tour, they can experience the original glory of this college football cathedral and experience Memorial Stadium near the time when it was originally created.
The tour begins outside the east side of the stadium. As visitors move virtually through the tour they can see photos of Memorial Stadium and learn about when and why it was built.
Visitors can experience the inside of the stadium and walk up and down the original east and west stands, view the history from center field and see pieces of history, including Schulte Fieldhouse.
