Watchhouse Special Duo Set on Stage at Lobero Theatre | Arts & Entertainment

Date:

Lobero LIVE will present Watchhouse Special Duo Set, with guest Humbird, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Santa Barbara’s Lobero Theatre.

Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz of Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange) reintroduced themselves on their 2021 self-titled LP, and are now celebrating the 2022 release of self-produced recording “Watchhouse (Duo)” with a short run of shows featuring just the two of them, harkening back to their earliest days of performing. Humbird opens the show.

Starting more than a decade ago playing coffee shops and local restaurants around North Carolina, Watchhouse is a grassroots story driven by Marlin’s poignant songwriting.

They’ve sold out iconic venues, such as Red Rocks, Ryman Auditorium, and attract hundreds of millions of streams while producing exploratory music.

In 2022, the duo’s endeavors included the American Acoustic Tour with Punch Brothers; headlining shows across the U.S.; and collaborating with Planet Bluegrass on Mabon, an autumn equinox concert series.

“Watchhouse (Duo)” is a surprise release of Marlin and Frantz performing the most elemental arrangements of all nine songs from “Watchhouse.”

Humbird, having roots in the Midwest heartland, fuses experimental folk and environmental Americana genres in a mosaic of theaters, clubs, gardens, festivals, barns, caves, and other unusual locations.

Siri Undlin, the songwriter behind the moniker, forges an explorative embodiment of the narrative folk song and balladry tradition for modern times, inviting a host of collaborators and listeners to add and expand the music.

Since returning to the road, Undlin and her bandmates have toured full-time across the U.S., U.K., and Ireland.
